Happy New Year!

At last, there’s a break in the clouds for the South West tomorrow, just in time for a New Year’s day walk along the Coast Path to blow away the cobwebs. See the latest weather report from the Met Office. http://ow.ly/grLe9

It’s been the wettest year on record in the UK and the coastline around the South West peninsula has suffered terribly with landslides in Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. The official Coast Path website has up to date news on landslips and the diversions that have been put in place. http://www.southwestcoastpath.com/faq/route-changes/

If you are heading out on the Coast Path, stick to some of the more urban walks or a circular walk from coastal towns and villages. Here’s a link to some winter wanders – http://www.southwestcoastpath.com/day-walks/seasonal-walks/winter/  The picture above is of Towanroath Engine House, on the Beacon on the Coast walk near St Agnes one winter’s day a couple of years ago.

Would love to hear about your new year’s day walks so please comment on this post below if you’re planning any or tweet @Iloveswcoast

Happy walking!

The continuing heavy rain has caused further landslips on the coast path.  If you are thinking of getting out and about on the South West Coast Path over the Christmas & New Year break, please be careful and follow any diversions that have been set up.
